"A Rose For Emily" by William Faulkner tells the tale of Emily Grierson, a woman with a tragic life story. Emily was born to the aristocracy. Her family used to live in a great house in the best area of the town, but when her father died, he left her with nothing and the house, and the area deteriorated and she ended up with nothing. Her father was a very unpleasant man, who though no man in the area was worthy of marrying her, so when he died she was left alone, only with Tobe, her manservant as company.
