Rose for Emily". This was Faulkner's first short story to be published in a national magazine, the Forum. He reveals the chaos of change through point of view, plot and symbolism.
The point of view of "A Rose for Emily" is first-person plural. Unlike Faulkner's other stories that use multiple individual narrators, "A Rose for Emily" achieves the effect of many narrators by combining them into one voice... the voice of the town. Using this emphasis of first-person plural pronouns, lets you know this is the consciousness of the town. By using the pronoun "we", the narrator makes it seem as though the whole town loves Miss Emily, because they were all coming to the funeral to say good-bye. It's not until the end of the story, that you realize that all the town wanted was to be in the house.

In "A Rose for Emily", Homer Barron, comes to town to put in sidewalks. He is considered day labor by the townspeople, but he caught Miss Emily's eye. According to the townspeople, he would be beneath Miss Emily, they were happy for her.
Faulkner uses symbolism to show how the South still saw itself. The South saw itself as a decaying eyesore in the middle of a beautiful neighborhood.
