A Separate Peace: Truth, Lies, And Violence

The novel A Separate Peace is a story about the truth, lies and violence. The story is about two main characters Gene and Phineas . They are best friends through out the story, but they are totally opposite from one another.
Gene is the narrator of the story. At the beginning of the story , we see that Gene is interested in two things, the Academic Building (First Building) and the tree. He visits these places and we find out that his worst experiences happened at these places. Before you can really understand Gene’s personality you have to have some one to compare it to. like to express his emotions directly. An example of this is when Finny says that they are good friends, Gene has trouble accepting it. Gene is a person who is dissatisfied with his life and wants to set up an ideal person. Finny is that person because they are so different .
Finny on the other hand is athletic who moves with perfect coordination . He has never made an awkward movement until he falls out of the tree. That was the first time anyone has ever seen him make a clumsily move like that. Finny does things in which no one ever thinks of. An example of this is when he comes up with "Blitz Ball".
