A Woman To Emulate: Hester Prynne

When considering the three books, the Scarlet Letter, the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, and the Piano Lesson, I felt myself easily drawn to the protagonist Hester Prynne. Her independence, loyalty and ability to surpass harsh events is inspiring in every way. Hawthorne, the author of Scarlet Letter, makes Ms. Prynne a relatable character by making the audience feel every emotion as if it were their own. Every tear she shed, every rejection and every heartbreak was paralleled by myself.
Through the novel, I believe that I became close to Hester; as if old pals, sharing secrets of the mysteries of life. We felt a bond when I learned of her story of the voyage to the New World and ...

She depicted herself as an independent woman, unmoved by silly banter. I'd like to believe that I would be able to walk as tall if I were in her shoes.
