In the first scene of the screenplay suggests inattentive family culture. The “cultural message” is displayed by ’s parents whom don’t pay mind to their own daughter. is wearing masculine clothing which is a bit abnormal for her culture. Her clothing could be viewed as a cry for attention from her parents and her peers. The family appears to be quite wealthy by the looks of their “sporty sedan”. They also seem engrossed in an intelligent conversation about their daily jobs. receives her material attention but not the emotional attention she desire. She comes off in a rude way which would make her seem like the one at fault to an outsider. The way this scene is perceived could extremely vary from culture to culture.
