tired of sitting with her mother, hearing them again. Sitting alongside her mother she would no longer listen to the words, but would look at her mother talk and laugh. She described her life as “...such a paradise that [she] lived in” (pg. 25). The summer when Annie had turned 12, she began to change. She was starting to grow up and turn into a young lady. Life was changing for her and she did not know how to handle it. She would no longer spend her days “... trailing in [mothers] footsteps, her showering down on me with kisses and affection and attention” (pg. 27). Instead she would be sent off to be taught manners and learn to play piano. She started misbehaving and growing further apart from her mother. It was not until one day after Sunday School that Annie had seen her mother and father making love. It was then that Annie decides that her relationship with her mother has totally changed.
