The Israelites were promised land under Egypt in Canaan. They lived in Egypt for hundreds of years under Egyptian rule. The Apis bull was very important part of ancient Egyptian worshiping, before they were Christianized. The Egyptians believed that bulls represented fertility. The Apis was a divine bull created from the god Ptah. An Apis is a calf that is not able to have another. The Egyptians believe that a flash of light descended from heaven upon the cow, and this caused her to conceive Apis.
