First of all the article has opened my eyes to many things that I was not aware of before reading. The fact that the majority of people populating the arctic region are indigenous is very new to me. Another surprising fact that I learned through reading this article was that a lot of the youth that were surveyed were reported saying that they were not satisfied with the quality of life they were living. all other studies there was not much of a noticeable difference between the two. This leads to me wonder why the statistics would be higher in these two countries. According to the rest of the survey the reasons behind the suicide attempts are basically what we have already covered. Poor upbringing, substance abuse, neglect, physical abuse, the list goes on.
In the concluding paragraphs of the article it states that almost all of the data that was collected and sorted through was in English. Some may speculate that there may be some bias in the results. I tend to agree with this conclusion. If all of the data found was written in English, even the data from places such as Norway and Denmark than I am lead to believe that there must have been at least a little bit of a communication error somewhere along the way.
