special instructions you might need. Most of these positions are only 3.5
to 5 hours . If you don’t want the assignment, you can choose to deny it
and wait for the next call. If you accept it the computer will give you a
job number. When you get to your assignment you will go directly to the
office and let them know who you are and why you are there. The office
will direct you where to sign in and show you to the classroom. The unique
thing about being a substitute teachers aid is that every assignment is
different. Most of the assignment are in special education, though, I
have accepted some that were not. The few that I did accept served as a
reality check. Some of the different types of assignment were with
learning disabilities , deaf education, mental, emotional, and physical

had one such program that did work in her class. Her system was a using a
series a checks and stars when a child acted out. My job was to praise
and sometimes reward good behavior so the other children would try and
behave. If they got three checks they had to stay in at recess. An
example of what I would use in praising and or rewarding a child for their
good behavior would be by saying, “ I am really impressed with how well
Susie is listening and doing her work. She might be the first to pick out
a sticker.” The others sometimes perk right up so I will notice them also.
