Best Of Van Halen: Volume I


I have listened to a lot of music over my few years on this planet. I love listening to the radio, CD’s, going to dances, and hearing music. Needless to say, I’ve heard many bands. Some have been long running, like Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones, and others are the typical one hit wonders such as Deep Blue Something. Through all this, Van Halen as been there. The band consists “mainly” of Eddie Van Halen (lead guitar), Alex Van Halen (percussion), and Michael Anthony (bass). I say “mainly” due to the fact that Van Halen has had 3 singers over the years, David Lee Roth (the original frontman) and Sammy Hagar, that were off and on over the years. Van Halen is strong enough to let their music be the artwork for the album.
They took their hit songs from all of their records and put them in order by year. The first song, Evolution, incorporates a monstrous guitar solo by non other than the master himself, Eddie Van Halen. The next five tracks are not included in my favorites due to simple fact that I was too young to recognize the songs when they were first out. Still awesome songs, they just don’t get me psyched up like the later tracks. These songs include “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love”, “Runnin’ With The Devil”, “Dance The Night Away”, “And The Cradle Will Rock”, and “Unchained”.
My favorites are from number seven on. “Jump” off their 1984 album is one to rock too. Next comes “Panama” a song that is a good driving song because, well, it’s about driving. Van Halen delves into the realm of love songs with the next couple of tracks. Track nine, “Why Can’t This Be Love” seems to be about someone trying to figure out how ...
