An article in the Missoulian, Missoula’s local source for news, posted on Tuesday October 12, 2010 states that the University of Montana plans to build a biomass boiler to light and heat campus. This use of renewable energy is a huge step forward in the university’s path toward a more sustainable campus. However, many students are unaware that this is happening, or even what a biomass boiler is and what it does to sustain the environment. The community around the University of Montana should be encouraging the school’s efforts towards a more sustainable campus while contributing personal efforts towards a more sustainable city.
