Brave New World Essay: Prompt # 2

In the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, John who is also known as John the Savage, is cursed to a life isolated from everybody else because of his beliefs, values, appearance, and most outrageous thoughts. John is dressed like an Indian, with his straw-colored hair, pale blue eyes, and light-colored skin betrays his origin. He was born on the Savage Reservation to Linda. John is alienated emotionally and mentally and most important physically in both the Savage Culture and in the World State Culture. He's between keeping his virtues and trying to confront society. He is an entirely sane individual caught in an insane environment with a half-insane mother. Interestingly, although he is one of the sanest characters, his mother describes him as being mad. He is not accepted by the other savages and cannot understand the way of his own mothers; as a result, he is isolated and longs for something better. He then starts to realize that he doesn't fit into either group and he never will. John was given a book by his mother, Linda, which was written by Shakespeare.
