A sense of humour may take various forms and laughter may be anything from a refined tinkle to an earthquaking roar, but the effect is always the same. Humour helps us to maintain a correct sense of values. If we can see the funny side, we never make the mistake of taking ourselves too seriously. We are always reminded that tragedy is not really far removed from comedy, so we never get a lop-sided view of things.

Therefore humour is something which is not always transferrable in another country. What somebody from one area may find hilarious may not be amusing at all to somebody from another location. Besides, humour also helps you learning a language because it gives some hidden meaning for some phrases, words or expression. It opens your spirit to the culture of a different people with different ways of watching the world and reacting to situations and this factor alone makes you more tolerant by accepting the differences and so you become another person much better and understanding than before.
