C. S. Lewis
C. S. Lewis, formally known as Jack Lewis, was born in Belfast, Ireland on November 29, 1898. He was the second son of Albert Lewis, a lawyer, and Flore Lewis, a mathematician. Lewis is well known as a novelist, poet, scholar, and broadcaster. He was one of the most versatile figures in literary history.

Fortunately, the school closed down in 1910 and he was able to return home to Ireland. However, after nearly a year, he returned to England to study. This time, as a teenager, Lewis learned to love poetry and developed an interest in modern languages, such as French, German, and Italian.
Lewis was accepted to Oxford University in 1916. In 1925, he graduated with first-class honors in Philosophy and Ancient History, Greek and Latin Literature, and English Literature. Shortly after that, Lewis was chosen to teach English at Magdalene College, Oxford. He remained there for 29 years before he became a professor of medieval and renaissance literature at Magdalene College in Cambridge in 1955. Along with his teaching duties at the University, Lewis began publishing novels. His first considerable work, Pilgrim's Regress in 1933, was about his personal spiritual journey towards becoming a Christian.
