One more example of the uses of the sun throughout this novel comes after Meursault kills the Arab. "I shook off the sweat and sun." (59) When the main character Meursault is explaining this action. The reader gets a sense that the sun has covered him. An implication that the sun was the one who committed the crime, instead of himself. These examples prove that the way Camus uses the sun throughout the novel gives it a personality, and an effect on the way Meursault does and sees things.
In this novel, there are many ways that Camus describes the sun to a point when the reader might think of it as another character. In self-defense, Meursault kills the Arab. The murder triggered by a spark of sunlight from the blade of a knife that the Arab had drawn. The Arabs death took place in the presence of that blazing Algerian sun. ...
