Endless books were written and numerous stories were told about people's journeys, and piligrims' travels. However, one of these books managed to stand out, and claim its spot as one of the all-time best-written books describing the hierarchy of the medieval ages and the way of life at the end of the dark ages. Hence, the narrator went all in on the miller who, unlike the knight, came from the laity layer of the society, and instead of the noble Christian values, was known for his impulsiveness, blasphemy and his acts and tales that seemed to always be directed at ridiculing the religious part of the society.

Though slightly above the knight in social ranking, the narrator clearly expressed his spite for the pardoner, for he represented everything that a pardoner shouldn't. The pardoner could be described as the untrustworthy member of the pack, and his values were the exact opposite of how high a person affiliated with the church's. His physical look implied sexual disorientation and ambiguity of gender. Hence, one could not expect anything from his looks and personality but to be accompanied by greed, shiftiness and a great deal of lies and fraud.
