Characters in William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream go through multiple changes in behavior that occur by non-magical and magical means. (I,i,134-136) Lysander's behavior towards Hermia shifts understandably in the woods when touched by magic, but a distinguishing characteristic is exposed when he engages in more sexually aggressive tactics to win Helena and is abusive to Hermia.
