Imagine a neighborhood where everyone knows your name. For some, an ideal place to live but for others a dark nightmare.
“In co-housing, residents pool money to buy land, develop a cluster of homes and build a common space. Residents also engage in community building activities such as regular group meals and yard work. Cars are relegated to on-site parking lots, pedestrian trails connect the homes and environmental awareness is either mandated or encouraged” (Stella Lee).

in co-housing is the sense of security. It could mean more eyes are watching your property. Co-op’s are much cheaper than private houses. You can find a co-op in a neighborhood where you can not afford a house. You may have amenities you couldn’t afford otherwise. For example, swimming pool, underground parking, tennis courts and a small gum.
Monthly fee regarding maintenance, property tax, insurance or mortgage could be very low comparing to a private home.
Last week we visited the brand new co-housing project in Fayetteville. In my opinion Mike Bradley did a wonderful job, he called his project, “The community of different buildings”. As a student of architecture I get slapped by some of the ruthless critics everyday, usually a bubble buster, but helps tremendously in a design process.
