“Though what would you pay right now to have your eyeballs back for ten minutes?” Inman asked the blind man (Frazier 9). In 1997 Charles Frazier published the book Cold Mountain. On December 25, 2003 screenplay writer and director Anthony Minghella released the movie Cold Mountain. The story takes place in the Blue Ridge Mountains before, during, and after the Civil War. On the back cover it reads, an authentic American Odyssey. There are many differences between the book Cold Mountain and the movie Cold Mountain.

caught and escapes. He finds and gives some help to people along the way. Finally he arrives home to Cold Mountain, a small town. It was nice to see and read about how Inman gets home.
There are some plain, flat-out differences between the book and movie. The beginning or the place where both the book and the movie began was different and the movie showed somewhat of a different aspect of the story. The movie starts on the battlefield during the battle of Petersburg. The plot of the movie was a little irritating to watch. It would constantly go between Inman and Ada, showing what was going on in each life separately and had flash backs from before the war and the two of them meeting, this made it difficult to follow. I thought that many important details were missing from the storyline in the movie. These are the differences I noticed between the movie and book.
