College Tuition Costs Rising

Introduction: According to Gordon Wadsworth’s article “Sky Rocketing College Costs,” “Economists predict the cost of attending state colleges will soar to $120,000 by 2015. I don’t know about you, but this statement makes me rethink whether or not I’d even consider us to be lucky if we survive 2012 anymore. The scary fact is that 2015 is only three and a have to four years away and it is a terrifying thought to take in. However, I was neither fully surprised nor shocked by this statement because the education inflation is already evident in transition just from my freshman year at Montclair State University to my upcoming sophomore year. 3. More students need scholarships as the prices of colleges rise and as larger scholarships are given, it continues to raise the price of higher education for the rest of the students that aren’t receiving scholarships.

4. The second reason is because colleges are competitive towards each other and put in a lot of money into reconstructing or improving their institution.

5. When visiting colleges, parents and students are not able to base the decisions on what really matters. They don’t get to meet with professors and they don’t get the full classroom experience. However, what they do experience when visiting a college is the appearance of the college. This is a problem because parents want their students to attend the college that LOOKS like the better choice based on how new and improved the college looks.
