INTRODUCTION

Tea is an aromatic beverage prepared by adding cured leaves of the Camellia sine sis plant to hot water. The term also refers to the plant itself.

Tea is the second-most widely consumed beverage in the world (after water). It has a cooling, slightly bitter, astringent flavor which many people worldwide enjoy.

Tea plants are propagated from seed or by cutting; it takes approximately 4 to 12 years for a tea plant to bear seed, and about 3 years before a new plant is ready for harvesting.
