Numerous resemblances can be considered between these two books. Both Mockingbird and Help are a good read, this is a given fact and both books were turned into a movie maintaining the original titles in both films. But on a more in-depth comparison such as their plots, settings and characters, one cannot deny that they are nearly alike. The stories of both books were set south of America at the height of the racial discrimination era, where the Whites were separated from the Blacks. Atticus was more open and expressive about his perspectives and what he intended to do to defend his Black client, Tom Robinson in court, despite the threats presented to him and his family. Conversely, Miss Skeeter was very much clandestine as necessary regarding her undertakings, with the fighting belief that she had to protect these Black American housemaids who collaborated with her by agreeing to tell their life stories and as primary sources for the book that she is writing.
