Creative Writing: The Bastille



The Bastille looked so small from where we were standing. It was a
unusually dark night as we approached out objective. I could not keep out
of my head the night before. Me and the Doc huddled around the table till
3 am exchanging stories of childhood memories and women. For being a
doctor (I hate doctors) he was pretty hip. I wish we wouldn't of drank so
much wine though. My head is still throbbing and the damn French weather
ain't helping it much either.

I keep looking straight ahead, nothing of interest to the sides of
me trees and shrubs. My mind keeps wandering as we walk. What if the
guards kill all the prisoners, what if we get caught and become captives,
or even worst ...

after
all I am a solider. Then all of a sudden thump boom! I hit the ground I
tripped over my untied shoelace. Everything gets
blurry...............................

After a undisclosed amount of time I wake up as I look up I see all
my companions and the POWs running from the encampment. I get up and
attempt to hold off the remanding guards. But I am ineffective because I
have seemed to misplaced my scary mask. So no one was scared of me. So
instead I laid down and played dead until the fighting was over. We only
lost two men and we came back victorious. From that point on my military
career was over. I had no plans on going back. War is hell and will
destroy the world. And I predict in 1940's there will be a war that is
unparalleled to any we have seen recently. ...
