Crossing the Bridge Between Insanity and Tranquillity

Imagine a world divided by two separate meanings, and in between the seemingly separate worlds, lies a bridge. On one side of the bridge is a land of complete insanity. A land where the inhabitants run free with a very small sense of morality. On the other side of the bridge, however, rests a land of immeasurable peace. In order to truly understand these two confusing worlds, one must cross the bridge from one realm to the other. Although the two realms are separated by their vast differences, like darkness and light, they are forced to coexist and understand each other. in this house have little to no care in the world. The novel’s main protagonist, Heathcliff, is a perfect example of one the characters who tends to exhibit a sense of insanity about themselves. Heathcliff is abandoned as a child until he is adopted by Mr. Earnshaw. The adoption opens Heathcliff’s eyes to a new world of spite and coldness. Hindley Earnshaw, Heathcliff’s adopted brother, feels threatened by how much love his new brother is receiving. While under the care of the Earnshaws, Heathcliff falls in love with Mr. Earnshaw’s wild and passionate daughter, Catherine. The two escape the insanity at Wuthering Heights and find themselves at Thrushcross Grange.
Thrushscross Grange is an entirely different world. While the residents at Wuthering Heights were once part of the working class, the residents of Thrushcross Grange are especially elevated on the social ladder.
