In 2017, it was discovered that parts of Monica Crowley’s book, What the Bleep Just Happened, was plagiarised. Crowley who was Trump’s pick for senior director of strategic communication for the National Security Council was accused of multiple cases of plagiarism in her book. The book contains over fifty examples of plagiarism. The work includes copying with slight changes in news articles, columnists, think tank and Wikipedia. Although she stepped away from her appointment of senior director, Crowley was defended by Trump’s presidential transition team who said the investigation to discredit Monica was politically driven. Now Crowley still holds her job as the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of Treasury.
In 2018, another incident of public plagiarism occurred. Shape of Water was accused of plagiarising a play called Let Me Hear You Whisper written by Paul Zindel.
