Days Of Othello
We start out episode one on the streets of Venice, during the dark of night. A distraught Roderigo has just learned that his ladylove, the fair Desdemona, has run off and eloped with Othello, one of Venice’s most brave soldiers. Roderigo is extremely upset with Iago also, since he has been paying off Iago to play matchmaker for Desdemona and himself.
But we also see that Iago has problems of his own. Othello named Michael Cassio as his lieutenant, and not himself. Iago is insulted and humiliated, and vows to get revenge on Othello.
DO DAH DO DAH DUH!!
(Menacing Music)
Roderigo and Iago decide to go and wake up Brabantio, Desdemona’s father and Othello’s boss, to tell him of the news ...

Othello feels that he has done no wrong, and suggests that they go to see the Duke in the senate to see who is right.
In the senate chambers, Othello explains to the Duke how he and Desdemona fell in love when he told her of his wonderful adventures. She listened to Othello with complete awe, and they both admit that their mutual attraction was undeniable, and that no magic was used.

(Sighs of love from the audience)
After the “trail”, Othello is sent to fight the Turks in Cyprus, and is to be followed by Desdemona, Iago, and Iago’s wife Emilia. And while all of this was happening, Iago is formulating a plan to use Othello’s good trusting nature against him. He wants to see Othello ruined, and he also wants to have Cassio’s job.

(which was set up by Iago), and he starts to feel the first pangs of jealousy. When Desdemona asks her husband to give back Cassio’s job, Iago points out all too quickly that her behavior towards Cassio is suspicious.
A now suspicious Othello demands that Iago prove his assumptions about his wife and Cassio. Meanwhile, Desdemona unfortunately drops the handkerchief that was given to her by Othello. Emilia finds the handkerchief, and instead of giving it to Desdemona, she gives it to her husband. Iago then plants the handkerchief in Cassio’s room. Cassio finds the handkerchief, and gives it to Bianca, his mistress, as a present.
