Finally everyone belongs to one ‘human family’ (DeBerri et al 2003, p. 30). Therefore, everyone must take responsibility for the nourishment and development of the dignity of human life.

Human dignity is a gift given to us at birth. It exists because we, the human race are alive. It depends on people having authentic human development, where all dimensions of human life is developed. These dimensions include social, cultural, political and spiritual. Catholic social teachings believe that ‘it is not just certain individuals but all men who are called to further the development of human society as a whole’ (Populorum Progressio, 17).
