I asked myself this question after I watched the video and I don't believe that it does. Michelangelo is known for his talent in figure drawing and shadowing, after the restorations, his shadowing the character of his art was gone. I asked myself another question, "should he still get credited for this art work?" Yes, I think he should because even though his main talent has been hidden, his idea is still there. Just not so vividly. I agree and disagree with the restorations for different reasons. I agree because his work is admired by millions and it is showing great interest trying to save these paintings. and the charactaristics of his characters. Marking and bringing it to attention which areas had the restorations applied to is a very good idea.
I think that by going about trying to get these portraits back to their original style was not only an appreciative thing to do but it also gained us knowledge of Michelangelo and his style of painting. It revealed us a little more to know of Michelangelo and what went on during the time these paintings were painted.
I like Michelangelo's work, but seeing the video, I could tell a major difference in the art work and it seemed so vivid that it had been changed a great deal. To me it does not show much appreciation to Michelangelo for his job on the Chapel by prolonging this situation and taking there time at first to get it fixed from restorations.
