Abstract
This paper addresses the issues of video games influence of violent behavior on its players. This is a highly debated topic with research and testing supporting both sides. This paper examines different case studies and experiments that support both sides of the debate. The problem with many of these studies is they are proof of correlation not necessarily causation. A study was commissioned by the American Psychology Association (APA) to bring up to date research concerning the influence of violent video games on behavior (Calvert et al., 2017). This group of psychologist first gathered previously written articles and research putting them through a series of test to check their validity (Calvert et al., 2017). These articles were recent from the year 2000 to 2013(Calvert et al., 2017). These articles were searched to see if they met certain criteria (Calvert et al., 20170. They sent out a survey to fifty four schools where they received 3,372 responses, of which 58.4% were female age 12-18 (Exelmans et al., 2015). This survey asked about the participants' outbursts of violence, what video games they played, and how often they play it (Exelmans et al., 2015).
