History of DisneyWorld

DreamWorld was originally built to attract tourists (man- made) attraction. Some of the attractions in the DreamWorld logo never existed in the park e.g. generic log ride hut, paddle steamer, single loop coaster, main entrance building, wooden style coaster and train pictured.

DreamWorld takes up of approximately 30 hectares of a 104 hectare site, allowing the area to be expanded in the future. In a flight between Hawaii and Japan, John Longhurst thought of building a theme park now known as DreamWorld. Longhurst was a man from simple background, he worked as a truck operator and mechanic later became a successful lawn mower manufacturer, and then he graduated as a builder and boat maker. DreamWorld was opened in 15 December 1981 by the head of Government of that time Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen and with the park mascot Kenny Koala. It took Longhurst 7 years to build this theme park and to see his dream come true. Due to heavy rainfall thunderbolt wasn't built but was laying in pieces over the ride area.
