the East Asia. To conclude, there are a number of important precursors that would be instrumental in shaping East Asia's future. The first precursor to the future would be the China question. From the United States' point of view, there has been a suggestion toward the polices of "congagement" that would allow the United States to both engage and contain China, with Asia conforming to whichever strategy was pursued. The second precursor to the future is the two Koreas question. Although the Korean peninsula is still divided, it is possible but somewhat unlikely to expect multilateral cooperation in nuclear energy in the region. In this backdrop, Korean popular culture, also known as the "Korean Wave" (Hallyu in Korean) ranges from television dramas, movies, popular music (K-pop), food, fashion, tourism, and language, which have been spreading widely in East Asia, would be the focal point of the third precursor.
