Bio Lab

In the third exercise we worked in groups of fours to test the effects of pH on enzyme activity. The test subject was the liver cell, which was exposed to pH levels of two, eight, and fourteen, along with water and hydrogen peroxide. My hypothesis for this experiment was the lower the pH level (More Acidic) the greater the reaction and enzyme level would be. Each member of our group had a different solvent. I had the pH level of fourteen, which was a low acidic level. I grabbed a test tube added drops of live to it, then I added water, then the pH level of fourteen, and then finally the hydrogen peroxide. After the reaction had occurred I measured ...

liver, kidney, and potatoes. The materials were dropped into the test tubes, then they were either put into an ice bath, or into a 37 degree Celsius bath of water. After sitting in the baths for five minutes, they were brought back to the tables and set in test tube racks. They were observed then drops of hydrogen peroxide and solutions of pH were added to the tubes. A chemical reaction occurred and it was observed, then it was measured using a metric ruler. On the test tubes there was markings of which material was in it, it was marked with glass marking pens, which were very similar to a crayon. In each tube there was a certain amount of each solution added to the tube, 4 drops of the liver, potato, or kidney was added, then 2 drops of the certain pH level, 2 drops of water, then 2 drops of hydrogen peroxide.

In table 3 the results included in this order from lowest to highest thickness of foam measured in millimeters. Water: 10.00mm, pH2: 16.00mm, pH14: 15.00mm, and ...
