Formal Analysis

Three dimensional sculptures are normally pictured as formal pieces but also aimed to reproduce the statuary of gods or royalty. Some aspects were showed by the materials used. Stone statues, for example, most of them were closed with arms close to the body, limited positions, a strong back system to provide support, and very little emotion. The hard stone statue of Ramses II, Osiris, Isis, and Horus depicts them sitting down in a natural position. Unlike two dimensional art, looking at two dimensional art itā€™s key to not look at it as itā€™s literal depiction. It requires some background knowledge to interpret them correctly.

likely to show who were the most valued gods of Egypt. Through this sculpture the viewer can gain an idea of the importance they had on the Egyptians, Gone but not forgotten. Another form of art they used were paintings. Paintings back then were done on flat surfaced walls to tell stories rather than just plain figures. Paintings were often showing Egyptians hunting, fishing, events and more. Paintings were not done in the most realistic view for example both feet would be pointing in the same direction right or left. You would have a frontal view of the torso and the head would be facing right or left. The main purpose of the paintings were more for a religious reason. They believed that in order for the soul to live on after death it needed an earthly home which is why mummies were made. If the mummy was damaged portraits of them were served as a backup plan.
