Before I start my argument on this topic, I would like to say that I think Elvis is a great artist, actor, and an incredible entertainer but why he really as great as people perceive him to be? I don't think that Elvis is the king of Rock n' Roll. I merely believe that he was at the right place at the right time. He brought this new genre of music to the mainstream surface even though other artists have already done this. During this time, the world, mainly the U.S was still segregated. of the matter, the white audience loved this music and how Elvis presented it, which I say was a part why he was this great talent. I guarantee you if Elvis Presley was African America he wouldn't an house-hold name today. It's not news that some white blues, jazz, rock and hip-hop musicians have been more readily embraced by mainstream audiences and the popular press than their black counterparts. Eminem once rapped about his record sales on his song White America, "let's do the math, if I was black, I would've sold half." It's also not news that some of the black musicians that helped lay the foundation for rock were poorly compensated for their breakthrough work.
Besides bringing a different type of music to mainstream, what spectacular achievement has Elvis achieved that is so great for him to be called the King of Rock n' Roll?
