Bacon had a receptive attitude toward epistemology, which encouraged him to engage in the nature of knowledge with an emphasis on understanding the acquisition of knowledge. From an empiricist’s view, as was Bacon’s, only from an individual’s sensory experiences can any knowledge be adequately obtained. During medieval times and during the dark ages, people often used what Bacon called, “superstitions,” to explain various things in the world, such as laws of nature and the origin of the world and humanity. However, as the Renaissance evolved, fully understanding the world became a desire of philosophers of the era.
