The Fighting Temptations

The presence of music changed the Monte Carlo community for the better. In the beginning the community church didn't have a choir. Though it wasn't for good reasons, Darrin worked hard to form a choir that became the best. He got singers from barbershops, clubs and even the jailhouse. He would stop at nothing to put together the best choir. Once they came together, rehearsed and came to be a great choir. It seemed as though the church grew. The lovely sound of gospel music from the church brought together so many different people. People who came to hear and/or sing the music ended up being involved in the church. The overall musical flavor of the film was gospel. There is also rap, hip hop and jazz which of course outlined where the new choir members came from to form the new choir. The music did support the emotional weight of the story. When we meet the grown up Lily, she is singing in a club and the song she sings "Fever" shows a sexy side of her. There was funeral music at the funeral in which indicated mourning in the church. When the new choir sings at the jailhouse, the mood goes from scary to cheerful because they begin to sing a very upbeat fun song. The songs "He Still Loves Me" and "Loves me like a Rock" are my favorite songs. The song they sang at the competition caught my attention. It was sung so beautifully and the words are something that every Christian can relate to. Ever since I watched this movie I know sing "Love me like a Rock" by the O'Jays to my little baby boy.
