GAS LAWS

Gases are the only state of matter that can be easily expanded and compressed; because of this gases don't have a constant pressure. Pressure is the force exerted per unit of surface area and is caused when gas particles collide with a surface. The pressure of a gas can be measured using several units including kilopascals abbreviated kPa, atmospheres abbreviated atm, and mm of Hg also called torr. Compared to solids and liquids, gases have a very low density and their molecules are spread out over a large volume. Gases conform to whatever container they are in and will spread out fairly evenly across an area.

An empty plastic pop bottle is not empty at all, it is filled with air and if that air was removed from the bottle it would collapse. The pressure on the outside of the bottle would not equal the pressure on the inside of the bottle and this would make the bottle cave.
A gas can be compressed by adding pressure. The mass of the gas will stay the same, so as the volume decreases the density will increase. This concept is explained in Boyle's Law. Boyle's law states the volume of a gas is inversely proportional to the pressure. This is always true if the mass and temperature stays constant. The equation P1V1=P1V2 represents this law mathematically. In this equation V1 represents the original volume, V2 represents the new volume, P1 represents the original pressure and P2 represents the new pressure.
