money. General Electric will be around for a long time. General Electric is one of the first stocks to be traded on Wall Street and is the only stock from the past that is still traded today. It was only a few years ago that General Electric stock split three times, which goes to show how much growth and potential this stock still has.
The next thing is that General Electric is a conglomerate, which means that it is made up of several different industries. This really helps to cushion General Electric from any chance of bankruptcy or recessions. Even if one aspect of General Electric was to fail, another area would probably take up the slack. As for the industries that make up General Electric, some examples would be electronics, finances, the NBC television channel, energy, aviation, appliances and many more others.
