Subverting language removes the logic in words. The individual is incapable of rational thought when language is inaccessible. In this state the individual is manipulated to the master’s will. Orwell’s dystopia is the removal of words that leads to the mistrust of senses. An understanding of past values creates an ability to respond to present conditions. In George Orwell's, 1984, London is transformed into Airstrip one. The regime, Big Brother, uses techniques to persuade the citizens of Oceania to accept their controlled lives.
