Henry VIII's Divorce From Catherine Of Aragon
It is the purpose of this paper to prove that Henry VIII was
seeking a divorce with Catherine of Aragon, not because of his conscience,
but because of his love for Anne Boleyn. This divorce was not just between
Henry and Catherine, it involved many of the people who were close to both
of them. Anne Boleyn was the center of the whole issue because she was the
one Henry loved. Cardinal Wolsey was a close friend to Henry, he ran the
trial of the divorce. The Pope, Clement VII had to make the final decision,
he had to decided if he should let Henry divorce Catherine or not. Charles

England not only loved her as their Queen, but as their
friend. Catherine of Aragon came into Henrys life as a sister-in-
law. She was married to Arthur, Henry's brother. Arthur soon died after
their marriage and Catherine was left a widow. Two years after his death,
Catherine soon realized her love for Prince Henry. Although a few years
younger than she, Henry still found it in his heart to love her back. The
two planned on getting married, but there were obstacles, very difficult
ones, that stood in their way. In 1502, Henry decided to marry her.
Everyone agreed with the marriage except the Archbishop of Canterbury,
William Warham. Because of this disagreement, Henry arranged for a secret
wedding to take place. In June of 1502, the two were married and they were
coronated as King and Queen of England soon after.
Years went by and Henry and Catherine were slowly growing apart.
Henry was still young, and Catherine was growing old, almost too old to
