The State of Vermont is in crisis. A growing number of people are travelling to the Green Mountain State with what some would call a "cash crop," heroin. According to Shanahan, "The drugs are coming in from the bigger urban areas [New York City, Boston, and Albany] where it costs just a few bucks a bag, brought to Vermont and sold for between 15 and 25 dollars per bag." The dealers who are bringing heroin into the Green Mountains are leaving with heavy pants. When I spoke with Diana (a pseudonym), she informed me that if she was unable to get heroin here that she would travel as far Pennsylvania to get high (C.
