Seniors today are working longer and refusing to retire. At the age of 65 most seniors would routinely retire but because people are now living longer and need more money to continue to live the lifestyle they have grown accustom to, they have found that although they may be qualified for the job most has difficulties getting the job. According, to Michael A. Smyer, Ph.D. and Marcie Pitt-Catsouphes, Ph.D., Older people are a majority of the U.S. population than ever before. The percentage of the population, aged 50 and older, was 13 percent in 1900, 27 percent in 2000, and is expected to rise 35 percent in 2020. But, the meaning of aging has changed. ...

According to Stephen Bastien of Entrepreneur there are 12 benefits of hiring an older worker. 1. Dedicated workers putout a better quality of work and can save money.2. Older workers seem to be on time and sometimes early because they look forward to coming to work.,3. Honesty is always a plus with older workers, because they have strong values and morals so they are truthful.4. Seniors are focused and value their jobs they have strong work ethics and this seems to be a plus and rub off on other employees. However, this can save lots of money. Seniors understand that working for a company can be rewarding and they value much more than just collecting a paycheck (Bastien, 2006). I work with an older worker name Ms. Mary Wright and by interviewing her she had some very interesting things to say.
