The restaurant business has many functioning parts which make it run smoothly. There are an array of cooks, bartenders, managers, dishwashers, busboys/girls, and of course servers and hostesses. All are equally important in their own way and provide the restaurant with the ability to be a well run machine that have repeat customers which is key in this business. Through experience I have learned that uniforms are important to both serving and being a hostess. By comparing the two, you will see the difference between the two. When you are a hostess you are usually the first stop of a customer, and because of this your presentation to the customer is very important. This gives the hostess the task of presenting themselves as clean, friendly and welcoming. In presenting yourself in this light you may get freedom on what attire you can wear. This means the hostess usually has the decision of what they are going to wear as long as it looks presentable.
