They had said their goodbyes and were waiting for the moment when God would take the speaker once and for all. Death is a phase in the life cycle of humans that no one can escape. This is shown through the mood, synecdoche, and symbolism, especially of the fly. “And then it was, There interposed a Fly.” (9-12). Before the speaker’s eyes closed one final time, she noticed a fly in the room. It is almost as if her last moments were interrupted by the fly. The fly symbolizes the presence of death. In her last breaths, the fly interposes and blocks her earthy sight. “With Blue - uncertain - stumbling Buzz -Between the light - and me -” (13-14).
