Inside Mrs. B's Classroom

The book, Inside Mrs. B’s Classroom, is basically a story about the educational crisis in the 1980s and 1990s. It focuses on a poor Chicago public school, and a woman who thinks she has the brainpower to change the system. Leslie Baldacci, a very well known journalist for a Chicago newspaper, writes about the failing system and how it should be changed in order to prosper. Instead of just talking about it, she finally decides to stop writing and become a teacher. After the several steps of interview and application process, Baldacci receives her teaching certificate.

gained strong bonds with teachers and students throughout the book. When her students have to walk home after gunfire occurs, she writes that they were her role models.
The story is a great example of how some people can be naïve about teaching. In all reality, not everyone is going to like you because you can’t please everyone. Some students just won’t succeed no matter how hard you try, but what matters is that you do try and not give up that hope. Inside Mrs. B’s Classroom also shows the reader different viewpoints in education; it shows what students and teachers go through. That helped a lot because I obviously know what it’s like to be a student, but being a teacher isn’t what you think it is growing up.
