Isaac Newton was born December 25, 1642, in Wools Thorpe Lincolnshire. Newton was born premature and, his father died two months before he was born. His mother remarried when he was three and his mother and stepfather left him to his grandmother. The early events in his life played an important role in shaping his solitary and untrusting nature. As a child, Isaac had few friends and spent most of his time alone. He had a very bad temper and at one point threatened to burn down his mother's home while she and her second husband were inside.

without any special recognition. He stayed there to work on his masters but was forced out due to the bubonic plague. The university was closed for eighteen months during the spread of this plague. This alone time at home proved to bee very valuable for his research and led to many of his discoveries. After returning to Cambridge he quickly completed his masters and began working closely with his math professor Isaac Barrow.
Isaac Barrow helped Newton get his job as a professor of mathematics at Cambridge. Newton was a professor for almost thirty years but he showed little to no interest in his students or in teaching. His solitary life continued and he focused on his own work. His lack of interest in teaching showed as many of his classroom lectures were poorly attended, in fact. many times no one would show up to his lectures.
