James Madison's Federalist 45

When James Madison did an about face from his platform of strong,
centralized government to write Federalist number 45, his vision was
changed from the idea of a supreme national government to one of states’
rights and such. There exist many differences and similarities to the
government of the United States today.
Today, the government under democratic programs is a contradiction
of what Madison was getting at in Federalist 45. They have more of a
stronger, centralized type of rule considering the ideas of welfare reform
and government-run programs to create jobs for people. Also, the idea of
universal healthcare is an idea that Madison would’ve agreed with in

do. Therefore, the federal government cannot have power over the states
because the states have a larger voice directly from the people, that is,
it is more directly a democratic branch of government.
It is also true that the state governments are a necessary part of
the federal government, but what Madison fails to mention is that this is
true the other way around as well. Just as the states cant make decisions
without the federal government, the federal government has supreme power
over the states because of the balance of powers by the states. This just
means that the federal government exists to govern the states.
Where Madison is off with the government today is his perception of
citizens opinion of the constitution of the United States. He claims that
more people will live their life based on states rule rather than the
