Journey of Life in Frost's Poems

Robert Frost was a poet who grew in New England. He often was metaphorical journeys in his poetry, such are "Stopping by woods on snowy evening", "The Road not taken", and "Acquainted with the night". These poems use lovely expressions of snow, woods, stars, and horses to get across the poet's message. These expressions allow the poet to enhance the journey more realistically. Readers of these poems, often think about what the journey of life is. From all of these poems, Frost indicates the journey of life is fearful and unclear.

a picture in their minds of midnight and explains the loneliness and fear which he's experiencing. Also Frost uses the alliteration "the only other sound's the sweep of easy wind and downy flake' (11-12). He uses this poetic device to mimic the natural sound of the place, creating an illusion to evoke emotional responses of fear at the darkness and loneliness.
The narrator pauses and says "the woods are lovely, dark and deep" (13) "But I have promises to keep," (14) "And miles to go before I sleep" (15) the massaton seems to reproach himself about the situation. He dislikes the place he is in emotionally, and feels he is walking in the darkness a great deal of fear. Finally, the last line 'and miles to go before I sleep' (14-15) repeats itself twice to emphasize his journey must continue even though it is unclear when it's going to be end.
