The story of begins in February, 44 BC where re-enters back into Rome after defeating Pompey the Great, one of his old enemies. Throughout the entire play of , act 1 was the most significant and substantial part of the play. It assembled and established the main themes, conflicts and moods for the rest of this drama. It brought out an introduction about the basic conflict and theme in which the play grows upon.

in the political establishment. The second major theme in scene one had to do with the satisfaction and rapture of the public for Caesar. The public cheered and showered much enthusiasm for Caesar who defeated Pompey. This was an example of how the public got so easily persuaded by top authority. The publics acceptance and compliance to Marullus and Flavius is important also because it foreshadowed an influential and main part. It is the illustration for Antony’s manipulation of the public later on that determined the concluding acts of the play.
The second scene of act 1 begins with Caesar uttering out imperial like commands and then receiving the humble focus of Antony and Casca. This part here is Shakespeare’s initial purpose for the scene. Shakespeare was showing Caesar’s real and truthful characteristics.
