For many years, the criminal justice system in the United States has always been questioned. Questions have always been asked but not necessarily answered. For example, is our criminal justice fair, is every human being treated the same; does the punishment fit the crime? Although some people believe that our justice system is fair, there are others who think otherwise. As we all know, our justice system has changed throughout the years, and it will continue to change in the years to come. In this paper, I will discuss the issue of juveniles who can now be prosecuted as an adult as early as 14 yrs of age thanks to the horrific law that was passed in California with proposition 21.

made a study on juveniles who are prosecuted as adults. Not surprisingly, they found that after their release, they tend to re offend sooner and more often than those treated in the juvenile system. Why does this happen? Well, in prison, these children are hardly provided with any form of education or types of programs that can lead them to the right direction.
